There it’s done! It has the atmosphere I remember when I was in that pine forest, so I’m quite pleased. Sort of quite and deep but with a huge range of strong colours, oranges and reds where the sun gets through and purples, blues and greens in the shadows.

More work done on the trees in the dark part of the forest. I’ve been moving up and down, painting it tree by tree and seeing how each tree fits into the whole forest. This one has a nice rhythm to it both in the process and the final look .

The next installment… I’ve moved into the dark recesses of the forest – lol. More emphasis on purples and greys and greens. But don’t worry, the sun will touch the trees on the far side too.

Moving along.
I have a bit more of the ‘near’ forest to do before I get into the shadowy part of the forest, where I will use mostly purples, blues and greens. I can’t wait to see the contrast between the warmer, closer trees and the ones in the back.

A day off work
and a little farther on this one. This is one of those forests that completely surrounds and envelopes you. The filtered sunlight creates wonderful patterns of light and shadow in a rich tapestry of colours.

Amongst the fireworks and family frivolity yesterday, I started my new painting. I’m using this as an opportunity to explore the palette that I want to use for my 5foot painting – it’s coming up quite a range of colours, purples, greens, blues, amd oranges.
