Moving smartly along. Not too much to report
Still painting lots of green leaves and still enjoying it very much. (Although I think my next painting needs some RED in it!) I’m getting close to the end now though, and soon I will have to start thinking about my next painting. I’ve got a large fall maple in sun against a dark October sky in mind. And a couple of small ones too
Wow 10 weeks I have been working on this painting! I thought I might get bored making one this big (which is why I bought that five foot panel - lol), but I’m really enjoying it. The little details, the way the shapes weave in and out of each other, the little peeks of the sky, all the different greens that work so well together… I’ll be sorry when this one is finished.
I’ve changed the title of this painting from ‘3 Birches’ to ‘Among Friends’.
Sometimes when I’m working on a painting the utilitarian title I start with (I’ve got to call it something!) just doesn’t fit anymore. I’ve been thinking about that in regards to this painting for a few weeks. To me this is a painting about quiet comfort and shared joys - the warm sun, a playful breeze stirring the leaves, flashes of a brilliant blue sky - and friends to share it with.
Here’s the next session’s work. Lots of green leaves with sparkling sunlight and a couple of smaller branches peeking through.
I’m using a very limited palette for this painting and it’s amazing just how many greens I’m making - warm yellow and orange-y greens and blue and turquoise greens too.
