Sunflowers – 18 x 24 – Acrylic on Wood – Reserved for Mayberry Fine Art
I’ve now done three of the four flowers. Even though it is supposedly more compositionally pleasing to have odd numbers of things, I think these four look very well together.
I love these reds and oranges placed against the warm greens of the leaves – and also the odd splash of cobalt green which brings that touch of blue to it.

Wow! the flower to the right sure pops against the gorgeous background. So much dimension and movement. I’m still dancing!

What continues to amaze me is that you just paint around the painting and by the time it’s finished, it’s perfect. I guess I’m just used to working in layers and adjusting bits and pieces all over until I’m finished. Nicely done!

Thanks Kathleen! It’s so cool that you can see the rhythm too!

Thanks Matt! It seemed the wrong way to do it at first to me so I tried it the other way and I just couldn’t make it work. I would cover the panel with big areas and then cut the shapes into them, but they just didn’t come out right. I think they have to grow organically from what comes before or they look out of place. I love your landscape paintings!
