Still working on the integration of the sky… and thinking about the dark heart of the tree.  I want to go there next. And I want to see some of the darker storm clouds, but they are a ways off yet.

A little more… I’ve been working on the sky this session, trying to get a sense of quick-moving clouds, ready to open up or race away with no warning. And I wanted to get those few leaves against the sky and see how they look. I want to do a bit more of branches, leaves [...]

I’m working over towards the sky – I want to see what it looks like The sun is hitting these leaves so they are showing some lighter oranges and pinks.

Maple Sky  |  24 x 30  | Acrylic on Wood I’ve finally started my next larger painting, Maple Sky. Lots of red and burgandy against a stormy Fall sky. I’m using almost the same palette as my previous painting, Maple Lake. I wonder if there will be a lot of difference between the two.
