Delicate white flowers tumble down their branch seeking infrequent pools of sunlight.

I’ve finished this floral and what a surfeit of magentas! I’m definitely planning some more flower paintings – I love the wide range of colours I get to play with. But my next painting will be a fall tree ’cause I love those too.

All of the flowers are in and waiting for the supporting background. More deep purples and magentas to come…

Hmm, I think I missed a day of shooting. I’ve put in some more of the background on the left – framing the flowers in dark purples and magentas, and I have also put in some more of the secondary blossoms on the right. Everything is to support the run of white flowers down the center of the panel.

Now that it’s spring, we’re expecting some snow – lol. I’m resisting the urge to paint another winter painting though.

I added in a little more of the background flowers this session. Lots of emphasis on the shapes and their relationships – I’m less concerned with realism at the moment than I am with the abstract interplay.

The flowers are set against dark shadows of blue and maroon – bits of light try to make their way to the blossoms but it’s too far.

The dappled sun paints parts of these new blossoms but they are mostly influenced by the cool shady spot in which they have found themselves.

These flowers are nestled in a quietly dark place. Some of the blossoms float in deeper shadow.

Now to paint some flowers! I haven’t painted a floral in a while and I love the wonderful colour possibilities. And spring is in the air – not that we really had much of a winter – so what better time?

A boisterous tangle of green stems and purple blossoms creates a graceful arc against a tumultuous sky of gold.

A hard one to photograph – the yellows are a little more delicate in real life, but I didn’t want to lose the rich darks and vibrant blues and purples.

Nearly done! All the greenery is in and I just have a few more flowers and some more of those soft yellows. I love the complements in this one, not only the yellows and purples but bringing in some blues and oranges too.
