The Buddha Tree – WIP13

30 x 30 – Acrylic on wood I’m still super-focused on the tree and have made it to the trunk! More greens and browns are evident this close to the ground.

The Buddha Tree – WIP12

30 x 30 – Acrylic on wood Still obsessed with the tree, I have reached the bottom! It’s warmer and greener here with less influence from the sky.

The Buddha Tree – WIP11

30 x 30 – Acrylic on wood A little spot of sun hits this part of the tree, bringing in some bright yellows and oranges. It’s starting too look odd without any sky, but I keep wanting to paint the tree!  I’ll get to the sky later.

The Buddha Tree – WIP10

30 x 30 – Acrylic on wood A little bit of sky peeks through this part of the tree, although it is still in shadow.

The Buddha Tree – WIP9

30 x 30 – Acrylic on wood A little more work complete on the interior of the tree. The top of the tree reaches for the light, but in the depths shadows reign.

The Buddha Tree – WIP8

30 x 30 – Acrylic on wood The top of the tree is complete and you can see this tree will be somewhat rotund. This is a big tree with a lot going on and will really fill the panel.

The Buddha Tree – WIP7

30 x 30 – Acrylic on wood I’m continuing on with the top edge of the tree, feeling for it’s shape against what will be a warm blue sky. The tree is evolving into distinct areas of colour depending on how deep into the tree and where the light and shadows lie.

The Buddha Tree – WIP6

30 x 30 – Acrylic on wood A little more on the deeper interior where things are denser and darker.

The Buddha Tree – WIP5

30 x 30  – Acrylic on wood Coming around to the top of the tree, the leaves are a more delicate range of pinks and oranges. A riot and a jostle of colourful fall leaves playing hide-and-seek with sun and shadow.

The Buddha Tree – WIP4

30 x 30 – Acrylic on wood I’m moving up higher in the tree this session and the leaves are lighter and bluer at this elevation. The sun is lightly touching the tree top and the sky peaks through the thinner canopy.
