Hockley Valley – Complete

Hockley Valley

12 x 16 – Acrylic on Wood

Clouds rise from the dead tree’s branches as smoke from a factory and laze about in the endless blue sky. Early fall brings the beginning of change to the valley below but the snag remains aloof and unaffected.

Did you know a dead tree that is still standing is called a snag – I didn’t. :) I just love the internets.

Very nice!! As mentioned before, it’s quite different than I thought it might be… you have indeed surprised me!

  3. This is so pretty, and you’ve managed to both blend the different elements of the landscape in a kind of bright unity as well as highlight the distinctiveness of the “snag” (I didn’t know it was called that either!)

Thanks! I was very pleased with the balance of abstraction and realism in this one. (And I just love learning new words – lol!)
