The River – WIP2

The River

36 x 48 – Acrylic on Wood

I want to sample all of the mini colour palettes I will be employing in this piece. To that end I have moved down into some of the closer foliage which has a lot of greens both warm and cool. I enjoy breaking a few of the standard landscape rules – in this case having cooler colours closer and warmer colours behind them. Some rules are just meant to be broken! :) Although I will follow it up with even warmer foliage in the absolute foreground – maybe I’m a conformist after all –  –  –  nah!

The River

This is the start of a new large painting and my third where I have created the initial sketch on my ipad. I love the portability and there are so many great art apps for it too. :)

And again, one of my favourite times of the year – early fall. The leaves have started to turn, but there is still greenery to be found too. Such a wealth of colour! And I get to paint it! :)
