In a Pine Forest – 16 x 20 – Acrylic on Wood – Reserved for Mayberry Fine Art
Moving along.
I have a bit more of the ‘near’ forest to do before I get into the shadowy part of the forest, where I will use mostly purples, blues and greens. I can’t wait to see the contrast between the warmer, closer trees and the ones in the back.

What a contrast to your sunflowers! Must be so fun to work with a whole different palette. I know I enjoy that with beadwork. I enjoy offloom bead weaving, particularly working with the ndebele (herringbone) stitch. Some of my work has been published in Beadwork Magazine.
But enuf about me! I really love where this is going. Can’t wait to see the darker, far forest. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you posting the progression. It’s such a treat — and so different than other blogs I read.
Thanks Kathleen! Ooh your beading sounds cool! Congratulations on your work being published! I love being able to dive in to a whole new bunch of colours – it’s one of my favourite things – lol. I think diversity within our disciplines helps to keep us engaged. Well that was lofty.
Do you already see the contrast in your mind’s eye, or it will it unfold for you as you paint?
Hi Kathleen. I do have a colour sketch to give me the overall colour scheme, but once I start painting the section I do first sort of drives the rest of the painting and it can end up quite different from the colour (and the line-drawing) sketch. But I find it really helps if I have a starting point.
