Got a bit more done this session. As you can see I’m filling in the leaves It’s really starting to take shape and I can imagine the final painting with the sunlight, the sky and the 3 birches all of a piece.
Here’s the next session’s work. Lots of green leaves with sparkling sunlight and a couple of smaller branches peeking through. I’m using a very limited palette for this painting and it’s amazing just how many greens I’m making – warm yellow and orange-y greens and blue and turquoise greens too.
After I saw how they sky turned out I wanted to see one of the trunks of the 3 birches so I went there next I’m already getting a sense of the how the sunlight plays on the leaves and branches. For the next several sessions, I will be making lots and lots of little green leaves – and even as the ones outside are turning yellow orange and red, I will have this piece of summer.
Here’s a new little one – October Shore. 5 x 7 inches on maple panel.
The rich dark colours across the blue green water appealed to me in this one. Fall has so many different palettes!
