3 Birches – wip4

Got a bit more done this session. As you can see I’m filling in the leaves It’s really starting to take shape and I can imagine the final painting with the sunlight, the sky and the 3 birches all of a piece.

Here’s the next session’s work. Lots of green leaves with sparkling sunlight and a couple of smaller branches peeking through. I’m using a very limited palette for this painting and it’s amazing just how many greens I’m making – warm yellow and orange-y greens and blue and turquoise greens too.

After I saw how they sky turned out I wanted to see one of the trunks of the 3 birches so I went there next I’m already getting a sense of the how the sunlight plays on the leaves and branches. For the next several sessions, I will be making lots and lots of little [...]

3 Birches – wip1

I’m finally starting the big 30 x 30 Here’s the first session. I started off with an area of sky peeking through the sunlit leaves – I wanted to see how these areas would look.

October Shore

Here’s a new little one – October Shore. 5 x 7 inches on maple panel. The rich dark colours across the blue green water appealed to me in this one. Fall has so many different palettes!
