Old Woman Bay

11 x 14 acrylic on wood panel I wanted to capture all the blues of a summer day on Lake Superior – the water, the sky and the shadows on the cliff.  Calm and serene with the sheltered beach against the backdrop of rugged cliffs, the old woman gazes out across Lake Superior.

Old Woman Bay wip 2

Some of the purples and greens from the cliff face are reflected in the still water. I have only the sky and clouds left now.

Old Woman Bay – wip 1

This is an 11 x 14 of the cliff formation on Lake Superior that resembles an old woman looking out into the lake. I love the deep blue shadows that are offset by the brighter greens (and splash of orange) where the sun hits the foliage.

Summer Pines

Here’s a little 5 x 7 on one of those really nice maple panels. (I really like painting on them ) Pine trees against a summer blue sky and some trees in the foreground that are just starting to change colours. I have it up on ebay until Sunday…
