I did a small 5 x 7 painting this weekend. It was over so quickly! I’ve had the sketch ready for a while – it was nice to finally get to it.
I think I will do another 5 x 7 next weekend, and I will show it first in my newsletter before I post it here. I want to at least occasionally talk about things first in my newsletter – or what’s the incentive to sign up?
And then back to some larger work I have a whole bunch of ideas and sketches in various stages that I can start finishing up. One of them is another 24 x 30 that I’m really excited about – it’s the wonderful oranges, greens and greys of a rainy fall day – but I think I’m going to do a few smaller ones first.
Yay for long weekends!
I have finished the painting. I’m calling it Summer Morning – that’s the feeling I get from this scene. It’s a little humid, the rising sun is burning off the mist. The leaves aren’t all green – they know fall is coming.
Stay tuned for the next wip! I had such fun with this and I really liked seeing my progress over the many sessions, I think I will do it again.
Well I’m closing in on the end of the painting. I love the bright yellows and greens playing against the blue of the sky and the background foliage. I can’t imagine not working on this one anymore, but I think 2 more weekends and I’ll be done!
The trunk has arrived! Now I can almost get a sense of the final piece – I want to see some more trunk and finish off those foreground leaves. I want to convey one of those late summer mornings. The sun hasn’t yet burned the mist off. It will be hot later, but for now it is both bright and cool.
I got a fair bit done this weekend. I have only a little more of the background to go and then I can do the rest of the foreground leaves and then finally the trunk – yay
I can’t believe I started this on January 19th – it’s been nearly 2 months! I want to make 20 paintings this year but I think I will be a little behind
